Adjustment Layer
Adjustment layer is a group non-destructive image editing tool.
With the adjustment layers, we can edit and discard our
adjustments or restore our original image at any time.
Basic Understanding of Adjustment Layer
-
Brightness / Contrast: Adjust the highlights and the
shadows.
-
Level: Adjust the shadows, mid tones and highlights.
-
Curves: Adjust the points and edit the tones.
-
Exposure: Adjust the exposure for highlight, offset
for mid tones and gamma for dark tones.
-
Selective Colour: Modify the amount of primary colour
selectively.

Project 1B - Digital Collage
Week 3 - Pen Tool Exercise (Best Composition)
Figure 4.1 Final Digital Collage (Adjustment Layers & Filters) Week
6 (27/10/24).
In this design, I used a picture with a little blue and yellow
pieces on white marble texture picture as the background. After
that, I cropped the image's white and black sand texture into a
circle shape to resemble a black moon. Then I inserted a photo
of a blue building from an ant's perspective as the object
behind the focus point. Next, I crop out the various sizes of
windows from the image of a white building to create the effect
of an explosion. Finally, I placed the blue fish in the center
of the digital collage to serve as a focal point.

Week 4 - Final Digital Collage (Adjustment Layers & Filters)
Figure 4.2 Pen Tool Exercise (Best Composition) Week 5 (22/10/24).
After we have completed our final design, we must add and
adjust the layering and filters in this exercise. First, I
adjusted the hue saturation to slightly red to match with the
fish's red fins. Besides that, I enhance the brightness of the
fish to get a cleaner and brighter image. In addition, I change
the colour balance of the windows above the fish to more blue
and cyan to make the windows seem good with the blue fish. After
that, I modify the levels layer of the building and the black
circle shape behind the fish to darken the whole back layer
object in order to create contrast between the white background
and the darker item. Finally, this change provides the collage
design a consistent colour tone and enhances its harmony.
